Artistry in Motion

Fine watch enthusiasts share an excitement for the innovation, detail and skill that go into every timepiece. Dramatic handcrafted dials take it up a few notches as they require even more skill and hours of labor than the complex mechanics they hide from view. In this issue of EQ Review, which was inspired by the upcoming Art Basel, we explore exquisite watch maker Piaget’s marquetry and Jaquet Droz’s execution of photorealistic painting scaled down to a 40-millimeter dial.

I recently sat down with the real estate broker, author and star of Bravo’s “Million Dollar Listing NY” at his 112 Duane Street listing in TriBeCa to talk luxury real estate, the creation and marketing of the SoHY neighborhood and the NY market. My thanks to Piaget for sponsoring the video.

As we gear up for Art Basel Miami, EQ Review had the amazing opportunity to interview one of my favorite artists, Joseph Klibansky. A highly sought-after contemporary artist, Klibansky is known for using mixed media to create both utopian and dystopian cityscapes.

You might not know this but I harbor a hidden passion for art. I actually started my career in art, but I later switched to business. Klibansky, who is South African born, switched from business school to art. His series of thought-provoking pop art-inspired bronze cast sculptures shed light on the burdens of success and wealth. EQ Review’s Patrick Brennan recently spoke to him about his art, life and passion for supercars.

Artistry can be found in every discipline. This month we delve into an eclectic range of masterpieces from the newest electric bikes to architect Andre Kikoski’s uber cool Nolita condo 75 Kenmare. An added attraction is the artful interiors by Kravitz Design.

There’s much more to explore in this EQ Review. Enjoy! And, as always, I welcome your feedback.
