Emanuel Colombini (EC): The Goodwood Festival of Speed provides a unique opportunity to connect with a technically inclined audience. Lamborghini and Diablo enthusiasts were particularly excited about our project, reigniting passion for the Diablo. The event’s international exposure solidifies our relationship with the global community, bringing joy and anticipation for the future.
EQ: Could you share more about the inspiration behind Eccentrica and the collaboration with BorromeodeSilva studio and other renowned engineering experts and technical partners?
Emanuel Colombini (EC): My lifelong passion for Lamborghini, especially the Diablo, inspired Eccentrica. Collaborating with BorromeodeSilva and other technical partners, we aimed to blend the best features of various Diablo versions into a unique restomod. Our goal was to enhance the design while maintaining quality standards comparable to the world’s best car manufacturers.
EQ: The Eccentrica prototype boasts distinctive features such as “pop-down headlights” and titanium elements created with 3D printing technology. How do these features contribute to the overall driving experience and the car’s identity?
Emanuel Colombini (EC): The pop-down lighting system defines Eccentrica’s identity, offering a unique design language and enhancing safety in low-light conditions. The use of titanium provides aesthetic appeal and reduces the car’s weight, contributing to the overall driving experience.
EQ: The interior design of Eccentrica is described as a mix of 1990s minimalism and state-of-the-art mechanics. Can you elaborate on the design choices and how they enhance both comfort and aesthetics for the driver?
Emanuel Colombini (EC): We maintained minimalism, upgrading the interior for a driver-focused experience. Quality materials and meticulous details were emphasized. The digital displays with 90s graphics and minimalist styling enhance both comfort and aesthetics, creating a unique driving atmosphere.
EQ: The technical specifications of Eccentrica are impressive, with a top speed of 335 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds. How does Eccentrica balance the nostalgia of the classic Diablo with these high-performance features?
Emanuel Colombini (EC): While preserving the nostalgic appeal of the classic Diablo, Eccentrica emphasizes Lamborghini’s performance legacy. The naturally aspirated V12 mid-engine, six-speed manual gearbox, and rear-wheel drive elevate the restomod’s overall performance.
EQ: With Eccentrica being produced in only 19 custom models, how do you plan to handle the high demand and customization requests?
Emanuel Colombini (EC): Community building is vital for us, and we’ve been fortunate to find enthusiasts from the unveiling who became our first customers. We aim to establish a personal connection with each customer, allowing them to customize their Eccentrica during a configuration session in Italy, fostering uniqueness and character in each of the 19 models.
EQ: After the debut in Italy and the Goodwood Festival of Speed, what are the upcoming plans for the Eccentrica launch, especially in the USA?
Emanuel Colombini (EC): Following the successful debut, Eccentrica continued its presence in the United States, consolidating during the Monterey Car Week and various events. The global tour took over Japan and the Middle East, but we plan to return to the US for the unveiling of the first production car at the Quail during the Monterey Car Week 2024.
