The intersection of the horology and motorsports industries collided at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed. Roger Dubuis, in collaboration with Lamborghini Squadra Corse, has released a limited-edition, race-ready timepiece. This cooperation comes naturally, as the Maison is the official timing partner of the festival’s 2022 run.
However, this isn’t the first time Roger Dubuis has partnered with other auto industry powerhouses. Past hyper horology collaborations with Lamborghini Squadra Corse and Pirelli have cemented Dubius’ place in the world of motorsports. This year, the watchmaker is again proving its competency in creating a dashing timepiece with the Excalibur Spider Huracán Monobalancier.
The timepiece’s title is inspired by the performance of Lamborghini’s Huracán Spider. Fueled by the automatic RD630 calibre – developed specifically for this iconic partnership – the Excalibur Spider Huracán Monobalancier proves its own high-caliber capabilities. The twin barrel power supply provides a power reserve of 60 hours.
Further reflecting the design of the Huracán GT3 EVO, the Monobalancier displays vibrant green, red, and yellow design accents. Honeycomb motifs on the supercar engine-inspired calibre reflect the Lamborghini’s hexagonal dashboard. The rotor also reflects a race-inspired configuration, with its design based on super car wheel rims.
Like the carbon fiber material used in Lamborghini’s racing cars, the Maison also has taken to employing lightweight materials in their newest timepiece. With the case and bezel constructed from hyper-tech mineral composite fiber, the Excalibur remains comfortable and lightweight on the wrist. Displayed on a white rubber strap, which features green calf leather with red accents, this racy new timepiece is sure to turn heads.
Start your engines: the Roger Dubuis x Lamborghini Squadra Corse Excalibur Spider Huracán Monobalancier is an exclusive, special-edition release, limited to only 88 pieces for select buyers. Let the race to the boutique begin!
